More about me...

Más sobre mí

Rio was found emaciated with his legs bound together by tape by the river. We do not know if it was someone's intention to drown him or just stop him from following the people that dumped him. Many were shocked at how this poor boy had survived in the state he was in. With love and medical care he went from 14kg to 30kg.

He is a strong powerful dog so he will need an owner who can handle the breed and continue his training with positive reinforcement and managed socialization with other dogs. He does run with some other well socialized dogs but he can sometimes challenge them. We feel he will be better in a household as the only dog with slow interactions to others.

On July 28, 2024 Rio competed with Roy - his trainer in a race. They came 5th and did fantastic (true winners in Sula's family hearts. 💗) Who would imagine that Rio will become a canine athlete? Love, food, training - 3 simple words yet, they mean so much. Any dog can become an amazing companion... They just need a chance. Just like us, each dog has unique abilities, and when you tap into their potential - magic happens...

What does it cost to adopt a dog?

The adoption costs are $3,000 MXN for Mexican Nationals, $550 CND Canadian or $400 USD for Temporary or Permanent residents living in Mexico. Adoption costs for dogs adopted in countries other than Mexico are $750 CND or $600 US dollars. Don't forget, wherever you live, to budget for all the other things your new fur-baby will need.

What does the fee include?

This includes vet blood work and check up, including all needed follow-ups, any medications needed to get him healthy, spay or neuter by vet, food and care while at SULA, the vet pre-flight check up and clearance and any needed meds before flying, transport to the airport, all paperwork, all vaccinations, the cost for the airline transport, and use of a kennel in transport, a sweater and harness for arrival, and endless love.
